To deal with unforeseen technical difficulties, we highly recommend keeping a paper game sheet printed and on hand for all home games as a backup. See this example for how to fill out a paper game sheet.
To practice using the RAMP GameSheets app ahead of a real game, there are two options:
- Use the “Portal Games” menu in the RAMP portal to create fake exhibition games that you can then use to practice updating the game sheet data.
- Use the app in offline mode as described in the section below so that you can practice updating the game sheet for a future game. Be sure to delete the data added before taking the device out of airplane mode so that nothing is uploaded to the server.
The RAMP GameSheets app may not work as expected in environments where the WiFi or cell signal is weak. In this case, follow the steps below to use the app in offline mode:
- From a location where you have a network connection, sign into the app, enter the game sheet code, and select the game
- From the screen showing the buttons used to update data during the game (e.g. record goals and penalties), put the device into airplane mode to prevent the app from glitching due to an intermittent connection
- Use the app to update the game sheet data as needed during the game
- Once the game is finished and all the game sheet data has been entered, move to a location where the device is fully connected and take it out of airplane mode
- Once a network connection has been established, press the “SYNC ALL” button to upload the data to the server
