To help in getting the season started, here are some common questions we often get asked.
Friend Requests can be submitted here, the form has all the rules for friend requests. Only one friend request will be considered and it MUST be reciprocal to be accepted.
Note: We will only follow-up on friend requests if there is a conflict with evaluations and placement of players.
Your player must attend the sort-out session that follows their chronological age for the cohort they belong to. All players are evaluated in that age cohort before attending any further sort-outs.
For additional scenarios please contact the Regional Director
The Head Coach application is available here. Assistant coaches and on-ice helpers are selected by the Head Coach once the team has been made.
West Ottawa will be hosting coaching clinics for all new and existing coaches this year once teams are formed.
Each age group has its own evaluation team that is composed of former ringette players (having played at the AA/A levels). A Senior Evaluator who has previously experience coaching that age group leads the process.
For any cohort, an evaluator cannot evaluate an age group if they are related to a player being evaluated.
Team formation is determined solely by evaluations performed at the Sort-Out Sessions therefore attendance is important.
Evaluations from previous tryouts and/or unsanctioned events are not applied to fall sort-out evaluations.
If you cannot attend a session, please let the Regional Director know in advance.
Specifically for the 2024/2025 season;
Practice and Game schedules are not released until a team is formed. In past years, regional teams can expect a game towards the end of September.
After teams are formed, it is possible that a team might have practices 1 - 2 days after the email goes out. In some cases, this information will be contained in the initial team email.
Our Scheduler and Logistics Director work hard to provide consistent ice times, however, during the season additional ice is purchased and smaller ice allocations (i.e., Beckwith) are shared across all teams in the organization.
Team jerseys are distributed to the head coach and manager who then shares with the team.
We strive to create teams 2-3 days after the last sort-out. Should there be a delay, we will let members know.
There are no league games over Thanksgiving. We do receive ice over Thanksgiving so there is a strong chance you will have a practice.
Equipment loans are available, however, the priority for these loans is for FUN1 players and then others. We also loan out goalie equipment to teams throughout the season.
